DA rejects dubious Housing Company Tshwane board appointments

The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Tshwane opposes the proposed appointment of Ms. Mosa Tshabalala to the Board of the Housing Company Tshwane (HCT). We have serious concerns around the integrity, transparency, and merit of the selection process.

This appointment, put plainly, has more red flags than an EFF political rally. What we are seeing in the Capital City now, is the apparent prioritisation of political proximity over proven performance.

These are not ceremonial roles for “petty-cash-tin” management. These are meant to be strategic appointments to a Public Housing Entity responsible for the dignity of thousands of residents. Yet what we are witnessing borders on “Municipal- Capture.”

The DA has formally rejected the recommendations, especially the troubling clause allowing Board- terms to be renewed at the sole discretion of the Shareholder. The City of Tshwane is the Shareholder. Unchecked cronyism will follow this troubling decision.

Tshwane cannot build public housing credibility while sowing seeds of suspicion at the boardroom table.

The DA calls for the immediate re-evaluation of all appointments to the HCT Board. Council must return to evidence-based decision-making and transparent, credible governance.
