The Garsfontein Suburb in Pretoria last night suffered yet another power outage, the area now has been subjected to a total of 17 power outages for the first 13 weeks of 2025. This comes after the DA has been calling for the cabling network supplying the area to be maintained.

The network is left vulnerable and can not handle the load, and the city is uninterested in resolving the root cause of these outage.

The residents of Garsfontein deserve better, and I have written to the City Manager to call for action in getting these issues resolved.

A minisub in Windsor street was damaged in 2024, and calls for repairs have been met with silence. Rather than fixing the problem, the city has chosen to just bypass this problem, causing an overload on the system that leads to constant trips. To make matters worse, there is also a cable fault in Neser Street that is treated similarly.

The ANC administration is cutting corners, under the veil of cost containment, by not fixing these abnormals. However, the resulst is constant trips and various other cable faults caused by this abnormal condition that ends up being more expensive than fixing the root cause.

The DA will continue to fight until this network is restored to its rightful state and power outages stop.
