Today, l conducted an oversight inspection at the non-functional Toekomsrus Business Hive in the Rand West District Municipality.

This facility, which is meant to house eight businesses, is not being utilised.

According to some of the business people who were previously utilizing this facility, they were removed due to renovations.

This business hub was renovated in the 2016/17 financial year at a cost of R3 153 675.00 and handed over to the Rand West District Municipality to take control of and see to the day to day running of this hub.

The renovations have been partially completed and the contractor has left the site.

Business people who have been utilizing this facility prior to the renovations have been left in the cold.

This has became a norm under the failing ANC-led Gauteng administration which fails to complete community projects within the stipulated time frame.

This has had a negative impact on small businesses particularly township businesses which are striving to revive the township economy and create employment opportunities.

The ANC has proven that it cannot create a conducive environment for businesses to flourish.

The DA is the only party that has a plan to revive the township economy and create a job in every home. We will revitalize and expand industrial parks in townships so as to provide jobs where people live.

This is evident through the recent survey published by the Institute for Race Relations (IRR) which indicates that voters in Gauteng view the Democratic Alliance as the political party that is most capable of solving South Africa’s pressing problems such as; fighting corruption and crime, growing the economy and creating jobs.

I will be tabling questions in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature to ascertain the following: when will this business hub be completed, what happened to the contractor, when will business people be able to utilize this facility.
