Tomorrow, Wednesday, 5 August 2026, the Democratic Alliance (DA) in Gauteng will reveal the decisive action taken against the Speaker of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL), Morakane Mosupyeo, for excessively wasting money on the Venezuela trip while service delivery suffers.
R5.9 million spent on this trip to Venezuela shows poor judgment by a Speaker who prioritised personal interests over the needs of Gauteng residents. This once again highlights the sheer arrogance and uncaring leadership under the current government.
The press conference will be led by the Leader of the Official Opposition in Gauteng, Solly Msimanga MPL, the DA Chief Whip, Mike Moriarty MPL, and DA Media Whip, Nico De Jager MPL.
