Today, Thursday, 29 January 2026, the Democratic Alliance (DA) will conduct an oversight visit at Pikoko Informal Settlement located in Mogale City, following concerns about poor service delivery and plans to formalise or relocate residents.
The residents are living in squalor, the area is severely overcrowded with no proper sanitation, refuse removal, electricity, and access to an uninterrupted water supply. The area is a health hazard, and crime is also a challenge.
The oversight inspection will be led by the DA Shadow MEC for Human Settlements, Mervyn Cirota MPL, accompanied by the Member of Home Affairs Committee, Adrian Roos MP, Member of Environment Portfolio, Jade Miller MPL, and DA Ward Cllr, Jean Kotze.
The media is invited to attend, and there will be an opportunity for interviews and photographs.
