The Democratic Alliance (DA) has exposed how the ANC-EFF has failed to take the necessary duty of care regarding the livestock at the Coronation Park, in Mogale City.
Due to the inability to properly care for the animals, a decision was taken to embark on the auction process and dispose of the livestock.
The decision was taken by the Council in November 2023, and yet under the callous and inept EFF-ANC coalition, the animals have been allowed to languish under deplorable conditions almost two years later.
The DA has confirmed that the state vet has attended to the animals and will be reporting the case to the SPCA for investigation.
According to the report the state vet concluded that the animals must be disposed of before 16th December 2025, which is coincidentally the same day as the public holiday, Day of Reconciliation.
To make matters worse, the Krugersdorp Game Reserve was approved for upgrade, management and commercialisation through a public private partnership over 3 years ago. This item was already approved in council in October 2022, yet the lethargic ANC-EFF coalition failed to implement it.
The community of Mogale City has been robbed of enjoying two community assets under the ANC-EFF coalition.
Firstly, they have been deprived of appreciating community owned biological assets, which were originally donated in 1988 by the community at Coronation Park.
Moreover, the community has been unable to access the Krugersdorp Game Reserve.
The indolent EFF-ANC coalition in Mogale City has no sense of urgency. Their idleness has resulted in facilities, which could have been opened years ago, remaining closed.
The DA is calling for immediate compliance with council resolutions and an acceleration of Private-Public partnerships regarding Krugersdorp Game Reserve.
The DA has already shown our ability to renew Mogale City, and unlock community assets for the benefit of the community.
While the ANC-EFF stalls, directionless, the DA has a clear and strategic plan to implement. This includes ensuring that swimming-pools, nature reserves and community parks and stadiums are available for the use and enjoyment of the community.
