Tomorrow, Wednesday,6 August 2025, the Democratic Alliance (DA) Gauteng Spokesperson for Infrastructure Development, Khathutshelo Rasilingwane MPL, will conduct oversight inspections of two Gauteng Provincial Government (GPG) rented offices in Johannesburg CBD.

The purpose of the oversight is to assess the state of the rented buildings to determine whether they are conducive and offer value for money. We have received numerous complaints and requests from the concerned public to inspect the building at number 56 Eloff Street, which is being occupied by the Gauteng Department of Economic Development and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

We will also inspect the Gauteng Department of Education’s rented offices at number 55 Fox Street. We were denied access to these offices in May 2025, despite claims that the building is not compliant with the occupational health standards.

GPG is spending over R34 million monthly on rentals, yet there are allegations that buildings are not compliant and conducive for the workplace. Despite this, GPG-owned buildings have been abandoned and left to decay instead of being fixed and utilised to save money spent renting non-compliant buildings.

The media is invited, and there will be an opportunity for interviews and photographs.
