NPOs who provide a critical service to vulnerable residents in Gauteng have been left scratching their heads over where to deliver their proposals and business plans for the 2024/2025 financial year.
One advertisement stated that 69 Commissioner Street, Thusanong Building in Johannesburg, is the only address where business plans may be submitted.
However, NPOs have since received a message from the officials at the Gauteng Department of Social Development (GDSD) that business plans must instead be delivered to the Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development at 56 Eloff Street in Johannesburg.
The conflicting information provided by GDSD is worrying, as there are only a few days left before applications close on 20 November 2023.
This may result in some NPOs losing out on much-needed funding and will need to find alternative sources of funding to continue to provide services or close their doors.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) demands that GDSD urgently provide the correct information where applications must be submitted. The only other alternative would be for GDSD to extend the deadline because of the confusion.
