Tomorrow, Thursday, 19 October 2023, the Democratic Alliance (DA) Shadow MEC for Education, Khume Ramulifho MPL and DA Spokesperson for Education, Sergio Dos Santos MPL will conduct an oversight inspection at Noordgesig Secondary School.
The purpose of the oversight is to assess the learning and teaching conditions after the Occupational Health and Safety Department prohibited the school from using 13 asbestos classrooms.
The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) has failed to eradicate asbestos structures, despite setting different targets to do so. The DA will assess plans put in place to ensure quality teaching and learning at the school.
The DA will engage with the school management to establish what are the interventions made to ensure conducive teaching and learning environment.
Members of the media are invited, and there will be an opportunity for interviews and photographs.
