It is with great sadness that the DA in Johannesburg has learned of the execution-style shooting and subsequent passing of activist and champion for the people Ayob Mungalee (58). Ayob was shot in Sneeuberg Street, Ext 2 Eldorado Park, opposite his home.
Ayob was a keen campaigner against injustice, violent crime, drugs, and gun violence that threatens his community and at the time of his death was busy exposing alleged child trafficking.
We are saddened and shocked by his murder. His colleagues and fellow activists will remember him for his fearlessness and bravery when approaching the perpetrators of this scourge on society.
At present information of the incident is limited, but we believe that there is a lot more to this than is apparent at this time. We will not relent until the perpetrators of both his murder and the criminal activities he fought against are fully investigated and the guilty are brought to justice.
Our community and country mourn his death. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and colleagues.
