Legal threats will not deter our efforts to clean up the Gauteng Enterprise Propeller

Issued by Makashule Gana MPL – DA Gauteng Shadow MEC for Economic Development

Former acting CEO of the Gauteng Enterprise Propeller (GEP), Leah Manenzhe – who is accused of malfeasance and discrimination of GEP staff during her tenure in office, yesterday served legal letters threatening to sue me for defamation.

The DA will not be bullied by legal threats in our pursuit of getting to the bottom of the alleged rot that occurred at GEP under Manenzhe’s watch.

Similarly, we will not buckle in ascertaining what role the current MEC for Cooperative Governance, Lebogang Maile, played in the shenanigans at GEP during his time as MEC for Economic Development.

It is a strange that Ms Manenzhe has ran to the courts to sue for defamation when she has still not rebutted the allegations made against her by GEP staff. She resigned before she was made to explain herself when political leadership in the department changed.

We are eagerly awaiting the release of the forensic report into the ongoings at GEP under Maile and Manenzhe.

We hope that the current MEC for Economic Development, Dr. Kgosientso Ramokgopa, continues to clean up the mess left by his predecessors and releases the forensic report sooner rather than later.

The DA will not stop fighting to ensure that every cent that is supposed to benefit the citizens of Gauteng makes its way to the correct beneficiaries and does not line the pockets of corrupt cadres.
