The Students Organization (DASO) at the Vaal University of Technology has won our first-ever SRC seat following the 2026 SRC elections. The DA’s candidate, Bathabile Precious Aphane won the SRC Seat for the Faculty of Applied and Computer Sciences.
In addition, Bathabile also won the Chairpersonship of the Applied and Computer Sciences Faculty, where she will lead her faculty executive committee. By winning both seats, the DASO proves itself a reliable voice for students.
This SRC election breakthrough follows on the DA’s win of Ward 23, the first-ever 100% township ward in the same municipality of Emfuleni within the Vaal region of Gauteng.
Both these developments are a strong indicator that the DA’s message of good governance, delivering on key issues and putting the interests of people first, finds resonance in many diverse communities throughout Gauteng.
