Today, Thursday, 22 October 2026, the Democratic Alliance (DA) Gauteng will conduct an oversight inspection at the non-functioning traffic lights at the Swartkoppies and Heidelberg Road intersection in Alberton, Ekurhuleni.
Several traffic lights are not working, and this has led to many accidents occurring on this stretch of road. Some traffic lights have been out of service for up to six months.
The oversight inspection will be led by the DA Gauteng Shadow MEC for Roads and Logistics, Evert Du Plessis MPL. He will be joined by Ward 94 Councillor Samantha Nair and Ward 106 Councillor Tim Denny.
The media is invited, and there will be an opportunity for photos and interviews.
