When we took office in 2021, we made five clear commitments:
• To invest in safety and security.
• To create opportunities
• To provide excellent service delivery.
• To solve challenges through innovation and creativity. And perhaps most importantly;
• To listen to the people we serve.
Those commitments were never intended to be words on a manifesto.
They became our roadmap.
And today, as this term draws to a close, we can look our residents in the eye and say:
We have worked.
We have delivered.
We have listened.
And we have built.
Our record is not built on slogans.
It is built on evidence.
For five consecutive financial years, Midvaal has adopted fully funded budgets. We have maintained our record of clean governance with a twelfth consecutive clean audit.
We remain one of the few municipalities in Gauteng with no outstanding debt owed to Eskom or Rand Water.
During this term, Midvaal has received more than 40 awards and accolades, including recognition as the Best Performing Municipality in Gauteng in 2025.
But let me make one thing very clear:
The awards are not the achievement.
The achievement is the child who walks into a functioning library.
It is the family that turns on a tap and receives clean water.
It is the business that knows its municipality will pay its suppliers.
It is the resident who reports a problem and receives a response.
It is the young person who receives training and gets a chance to enter the economy.
It is the elderly resident who knows that their community has not forgotten them.
That is what good government looks like.
That is what a municipality that works looks like.
And that is what we must protect.
My pledges over the next five years:
Democrats, I now stand before you, the people of Midvaal, to make the following five commitments to you, which we will work tirelessly to deliver over the next five years:
Pledge 1: Delivering Excellent Services to All
We will focus on delivering reliable water, sanitation, electricity, roads, waste management, and other essential municipal services to all communities.Improve the standard of excellent service delivery that Midvaal is already known for.
Pledge 2: Investing in Safety and Security for All
We will continue investing in community safety through the expansion of Law Enforcement Unit, CCTV surveillance, stronger law enforcement partnerships, stronger by-law enforcement, and innovative crime-prevention initiatives that protect residents, businesses, and visitors.
Pledge 3: Growing the economy through infrastructure development
We will unlock opportunities for investment, job creation, and local economic growth by expanding and upgrading critical infrastructure, maintaining our roads, and creating an environment where businesses can thrive.
Pledge 4: Creating Opportunities for All
We will continue to listen and act on the needs of our communities by strengthening public participation. Every resident will have a voice in shaping Midvaal’s future.
Pledge 5: Building a Smart and Innovative Municipality
We are committed to harnessing smart technology and innovation to create a future-ready municipality that is faster, simpler, and more responsive to our community’s needs. Our unwavering focus is on delivering an exceptional municipal experience, where every resident, business, investor, and developer benefits from a municipality that listens.
This is not simply a manifesto of promises; it is a commitment to action. It is a promise to keep building on excellence, creating opportunity and securing the future.
Together, with the people of Midvaal, we will keep Midvaal working — working better, working smarter, working safer, and working for ALL.
