Today, Tuesday, 11 August 2026, the Democratic Alliance (DA) will conduct an oversight visit at Pikoko Informal Settlement located in Mogale City. The inspection follows concerns raised by property owners that the informal settlement has expanded drastically into privately owned properties. There are also concerns that residents continue to build structures within the wetland, exposing residents to environmental and safety risks.
The oversight inspection will be led by the DA Shadow MEC for Human Settlements, Mervyn Cirota MPL, accompanied by DA Ward Councillor, Jean Kotze.
The media is invited to attend, and there will be an opportunity for interviews and photographs.
