The DA has requested the Executive Mayor of Rand West City declaration of interest from the Office of the Speaker.
During a Special Council meeting, the Executive Mayor of Rand West City, maintained that his recent visit to the FIFA Soccer World Cup in the USA was paid for using his own funds.
Moreover, he cited that he had a vested business interest in paying for this trip.
We are demanding that he answer the following questions:
Did he declare his business interest as outlined in the Municipal Finance Management Act?
Does he do business with local or other government departments?
Where can the declarations of interest by the Executive Mayor and his Mayoral Committee be located, if they do indeed exist?
If we cannot find satisfactory answers, we will submit a PAIA application to obtain the requested information, as well as pursue all accountability mechanisms available to us.
We will not allow secrecy, evasiveness, and possible conflicts of interest to go unchallenged. Rand West City’s Executive Mayor must come clean and account to residents.
Residents are urged to register to cast their votes on 4 November 2026 in the Local Government Elections for an accountable and transparent DA administration.
