The Democratic Alliance (DA) will add the new revelations to our criminal charges reported in the Sunday Times today exposing more nepotism and contempt for the law in the Ekurhuleni Municipality.
We have already laid criminal charges against the former City Manager in Ekurhuleni due to other allegations of corruption and will continue to fight to purge corruption in the City.
The report alleges that an IT company contracted by the City of Ekurhuleni employed the children of senior municipal officials while receiving multimillion-rand contracts, raising concerns about nepotism and conflicts of interest. The case forms part of wider allegations of irregular ICT contracts, questionable payments, and corruption within the municipality’s IT department.
This is sadly only the beginning of the unraveling of a spider’s web of deceit, corruption, and impunity.
If it was not clear to South Africans before, the very systems of Ekurhuleni have been corrupted, & are now characterized by a culture of impunity.
We should all be angry that our hard-earned money has not gone to delivering services, but into the pockets of officials and their family members.
An evil system of self-enrichment at the expense of the residents of Ekurhuleni has taken root, and we must take action against it.
The DA will use the power we have to fight for justice and eradicate corruption in Ekurhuleni, however, when the issue is systemic, holding individuals to account can only achieve limited ends. Full scale reform is therefore needed to crush corruption.
In order to achieve this, residents must channel their frustration and anger by taking action & removing the root cause of the problem from government entirely. The ANC must not be allowed back into government in Ekurhuleni. Only voters can ensure that.
Only voters can give the DA a majority on the 4th of November. Your registration can win Ekurhuleni!
There are more unregistered and incorrectly registered DA supporters in Ekurhuleni than the ANC’s 2021 vote total, this shows that your registration and vote can make a difference. Do not wait any longer, do not allow your voice to be silenced simply because you are not registered. Register to vote today.
