The Democratic Alliance (DA) has consistently been advocating for water in taps for the residents of Hammanskraal.
Under Ald Cilliers Brink’s tenure as Mayor, a plan was devised and put into motion to make this a reality.
This is a strong contrast to the ANC-led government who has abandoned that plan in favour of water in tankers.
Yesterday, the residents of Hammanskraal had finally had enough as the current Mayor of Tshwane, Dr. Nasiphi Moya of ActionSA, failed to attend a meeting to account to the residents of Hammanskraal.
A public meeting was then disrupted by residents in defiance of the government’s inability to provide clean water, chasing away Mayoral Committee Members.
Under the failing ANC-led administration in the City of Tshwane, spending on water tankers has ballooned to R777 million in just one financial year.
When the pressure around this issue started to mount, Dr. Nasiphi Moya solution was not to ensure water in taps but rather to buy tankers.
The Deputy Executive Mayor, the ANC’s Eugene Modise, and other ANC elites have financially benefitted from water tankers in the City of Tshwane.
Additionally, the Madlanga Commission has shown how tenders for resources in the City of Tshwane are made to benefit politicians and the elite.
The DA’s submission to the Commission also reveals how these mafias extend to water tankers.
The residents of Hammanskraal are realising the ugly truth about the ANC-led government.
The DA is joining forces with the community and are fighting to restore Ald Cilliers Brink as Mayor of Tshwane for responsible leadership that will get water back into taps in Hammanskraal.
