City of Ekurhuleni Executive Mayor, Ald. Nkosindiphile Xhakaza has acceded to the Democratic Alliance’s (DA) letter, demanding that he instructs City Manager, Kagiso Lerutla, to suspend the illegal salary increases to Heads of Department (HODs) for Legal and Human Resources, Kemi Beharie and Linda Gxasheka.
In his response Ald. Xhakaza states he is aware of the serious nature of this matter and will engage with the City Manager and the Chief Audit Executive, Phillip Rakgwale, to investigate suitable mechanisms to address this.
The DA looks forward to a Mayoral Committee Item being brought to the next Council meeting whereby Council can resolve to recover these illegally awarded increases from individuals who were Members of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) at the time – councillors from the ANC, EFF, and AIC.
Residents in the City of Ekurhuleni deserve ethical and clean governance.
Residents deserve a government that will put their hard-earned money to work for them, and not into the pockets of those accused of corruption.
