The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Mogale City can reveal that the ANC-EFF coalition at the head of Mogale City, has allowed water and electricity losses to spiral into the hundreds of millions.
During the current financial year, the municipality has already racked up losses of R86 million for water and R205 million for electricity.
At the same time expenditure on water, sewerage and electricity is tracking much higher than budgeted as can be seen from the following figures.
- Water and Sewer: Expected Expenditure R349 Million vs. Actual Expenditure: R358 million;
- Electricity: Expected Expenditure R805 million vs. Actual Expenditure R1 billion.
This is the startling reality of a municipality being run by an ANC-EFF coalition.
This failure to get the basics right on water and electricity sales shows that the ANC-EFF-IFP are unable to govern Mogale City. They have proven this, as despite DA warnings they ignored the most fundamental principles of good governance, while ruining Mogale’s financial well-being.
In the next local government elections, the only party with the requisite compassion, capabilities and capacity to create sustainable services is the DA.
Voters have a choice: either more decay or Vote DA.
