Today, Tuesday, 25 November 2025, the Democratic Alliance (DA) motion to pay tribute to the life, service, and legacy of Babita Deokaran will be debated in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature.
The motion will be moved by DA Gauteng Shadow MEC for Health, Dr Jack Bloom MPL. It notes that Babita was a senior official in the Gauteng Department of Health who was brutally murdered on 23 August 2021 in what is widely believed to have been a targeted assassination linked to her role as a whistleblower against corruption.
