The Democratic Alliance (DA) in the City of Ekurhuleni will be approaching the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) to investigate the dubious disappearance of R2 billion from the City’s revenue and the alleged link to Mpho Mafole’s murder.
Mafole, in his capacity as the Divisional Head for Forensic Audit, was allegedly involved in the City’s ongoing inquiry into the missing two-billion-rand case. It has further been alleged that prior to his death, he had submitted a charge sheet with evidence, exposing those linked to this corruption case.
We cannot allow for a precedent to be set where certain professions in the public service, who work to combat corruption, are targeted.
Whistle blowers, trying to end corruption, cannot become collateral, while the corrupt act with impunity.
The DA will lay these charges, as we are committed to ensuring accountability and restoring integrity within our democratic society.
We trust that the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) will leave no stone unturned in probing the missing R2 billion and bringing justice for Mafole. The safety and security of our communities and institutions depend on our willingness to stomp out corruption!
Neglecting this essential step jeopardises both the safety and effectiveness in protecting committed professionals in the public sector and, by extension, the communities we serve.
The DA will closely monitor the case’s outcome.
