On Wednesday, 14 May 2025, the Democratic Alliance (DA) Emfuleni North Constituency Head, Kingsol Chabalala MPL will file a complaint against the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) with the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC). The complaint pertains to Emfuleni’s failure to provide essential services such as clean water, adequate sanitation, and effective sewage management. This neglect has resulted in communities living in squalor and at risk of health issues.
Chabalala will be joined by the DA Vaal Regional Chairperson, Cllr Prudence Hlanyane and DA Emfuleni Caucus Leader, Cllr Duncan Mthembu.
The DA has consistently raised concerns regarding Emfuleni’s inability to deliver essential services. Unfortunately, our calls for action have fallen on deaf ears from Emfuleni and the Gauteng Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA), which is tasked with holding this municipality accountable.
The media is invited to attend, and there will be an opportunity for interviews and photographs.
Details of the event are as follows:
