DA to assess exploded Lillian Ngoyi (Bree Street) and Usindiso Regeneration Block

On Monday, 12 May 2025, the Democratic Alliance (DA) Gauteng Shadow MEC for Human Settlements, Mervyn Cirota MPL, DA Gauteng Spokesperson for Human Settlements, Evert Du Plessis MPL, DA Gauteng Member of Human Settlements Committee, Alan Fuchs MPL, Johannesburg Central Political Head, Andrew De Blocq MP, DA Johannesburg Caucus Leader, Cllr Belinda Kayser-Echeozonjoku, Johannesburg Shadow MMC for Economic Development, Cllr Bongani Nkomo, Johannesburg Cllrs Bongani Nkwanyane and Andrew Marais will conduct an oversight inspection at Lillian Ngoyi (Bree Street) and Usindiso Regeneration Block.

The DA public representatives will assess the progress of the rehabilitation of Lilian Ngoyi Street (formerly Bree Street), where an underground explosion nearly two years ago caused significant damage to the road. Furthermore, they will assess the advancements in the Usindiso Regeneration Block project, covering streets like Von Weilligh, Anderson, Grahamstown, and Goud.
