The security company linked to Tshwane ANC Deputy Mayor, Bonzo Modise has failed to prevent several attacks on property and infrastructure owned by the Tshwane Metro.
The DA will ask Tshwane Mayor, Nasiphi Moya whether the performance of Triotic has been reviewed, and whether there have been any contractual penalties levied against them. It is evident that they are failing in their duties, so no reasonable person can be expected to believe that there shouldn’t be penalties levied against them.
Earlier this year the Democratic Alliance (DA) in Tshwane exposed that Triotic Security Services, which has a contract with Tshwane, has links with Modise.
It is unlawful for a councillor to do business with a municipality.
Our suspicion is that while Modise has resigned his directorship of Triotic, he has retained his beneficial interest in the company. Tshwane Mayor, Nasiphi Moya has claimed that these links are being investigated.
The DA has since discovered that there have been several security breaches, and thefts worth millions of rands, at municipal buildings and installations where Triotic has been on duty.
According to our information Triotic is appointed to guard inter alia the Hercules Stores, the Remotse/Temba water treatment plant, and the Pyramid/Rooiwal electricity line.
Each one of these points have been attacked and vandalised in recent months, despite having guarding services provided by Triotic. Hercules stores were hit by armed robberies in November last year, and again in February this year. In the process, we understand that millions of rands of stock was stolen.
Cable theft and vandalism is a constant occurrence on the Pyramid/Rooiwal electricity line. The worst was when the Pyramid substation was vandalised in October last year. This led to a disruption of the Rooiwal Waste Water Treatment Plant.
The Remotste/Temba water treatment plant was vandalised on the 12th of February last year, and again on 12 October. The October attack led to the disruption of water supply to Hammanskraal.
