Issued by DA Media –
08 Nov 2024 in Press Statements

Today, Friday, 8 November 2024, the Democratic Alliance (DA) Shadow MEC for Human Settlements, Mervyn Cirota MPL, and the DA Thembisa Constituency Head, Khathutshelo Rasilingwane MPL, City of Ekurhuleni Ward 89 Councillor, Cllr Selby Thekisho, City of Ekurhuleni Ward 100 Councillor, and Cllr Robert Makgaila, will conduct an oversight inspection at the Sethokga Hostel and Hospital View housing development projects.

The DA will assess the new Sethokga Hostel development project to determine whether there has been any progress in completing this project since our last inspection in November 2022. We will also assess whether progress is being made in the Hospital View development project earmarked to benefit Winnie Mandela residents living in 1 and 2 stands.

Our residents deserve to live in decent housing, however, delays in completing housing development projects mean that they continue to live in deplorable conditions despite the Gauteng government’s promises of improved housing opportunities.

The media is invited, and there will be an opportunity for interviews and photographs.

Details of the oversight inspection are as follows:

Oversight One:

Date: 08 November 2023

Time: 10:00

Address: 4 Kopanong Street, Sethokga Hostel, Tembisa, 1632

Oversight Two:

Address: Hospital View flats

Date: 08 November 2024

Time: 11:00
