Tomorrow, 14 November, the Democratic Alliance (DA) will intensify the fight against Eskom’s requested 40% tariff increase.

The DA will protest outside the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) at their Pretoria Office, because NERSA is set to make a decision on Eskom’s outrageous tariff increase request, soon.

Leading this action will be the DA Spokesperson on Energy and Electricity Kevin Mileham MP, DA Gauteng Leader Solly Msimanga MPL, and DA National Spokesperson Karabo Khakhau MP, Tshwane Caucus Leader Cilliers Brink and Johannesburg Caucus Leader Belinda Kayser-Echeozonjoku.

The DA will hand over a petition to NERSA officials.

The DA petition has already been signed online by over 127,000 people, and thousands more on hard copies of the petition.

This petition demonstrates South Africans’ strong opposition to this excessive increase, driving up the already high cost of living.

NERSA has acknowledged our request to hand over this petition on Thursday.

Members of the media are invited to attend for interviews and photographs.
