Tomorrow, Tuesday, 15 October 2024, the Democratic Alliance (DA) in Gauteng will hold a press conference at the Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL) to expose Premier Panyaza Lesufi’s role in corruption by hiding forensic investigations reports undertaken by the Gauteng Provincial Government (GPG) since 2016.

The press conference will be led by the Leader of the Official Opposition in Gauteng, Solly Msimanga MPL, and he will be joined by the Chief Whip of the DA in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL), Fred Nel MPL, and the DA Gauteng Shadow MECs of all the affected departments.

For far too long, the DA has been demanding that the GPG make public all the forensic investigation reports conducted since 2016. The former Premier, David Makhura, failed to do so, and the current Premier, Lesufi, is following suit.

During his State of the Province Address (SOPA) in August this year, Premier Lesufi promised to make all forensic investigation reports public. It’s now two months later, and he has not done so, which is clear that he is shielding his comrades who have been implicated in these reports. If he had nothing to hide, these reports would have been public, and recommendations would have been implemented.

The DA will outline a detailed plan of action to pressure Premier Lesufi to make the forensic reports public, and we will also share some of the damning findings from some of the reports received from whistleblowers.

Details of the press conference are as follows:

Date: 15 October 2024

Time: 9:00

Venue: DA Caucus room, 3rd Floor, Gauteng Provincial Legislature

Address: 43 Rissik Street, Johannesburg
