The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Johannesburg will field candidates for various positions of Chairpersons to be elected in the City of Johannesburg on 29 August 2024.
We stand by our position that the best solution for stability in Johannesburg is the dissolution of council which should be followed by fresh elections to give power back to the residents of Johannesburg.
Unfortunately, our motion to dissolve council was shut down by the Speaker, leaving us no choice but to offer an alternative to the status quo.
Today we are faced with the same decision, we are committed to holding the executive accountable.
The candidates we are nominating are fit for purpose individuals with years of experience in their respective committees.
A carbon copy of the former hapless executive reminds us of Mayor Dada Morero’s words once more – we should not expect much from him.
As a party of good governance, we must do everything possible to stop the city’s decay.
