Today, Wednesday, 31 January 2024, Sergio Dos Santos MPL, the Democratic Alliance (DA) Gauteng Spokesperson for Education, will conduct an oversight inspection at Relebogile High School in Khutsong.
Almost a year ago, a large sinkhole appeared at Relebogile High School, making it unsafe for learners and teachers. The learners were moved to a temporary location, but the parents were unhappy because necessary resources were not allocated. This meant that the environment was not conducive to learning and teaching. 1550 learners were sharing two taps, and no additional ablution facilities were provided.
The DA will engage with the school management to ascertain whether they have adequate learning and teaching resources. We will also assess whether the department has provided all the necessary resources needed to ensure the delivery of quality education.
The media is invited, and there will be an opportunity for interviews and photographs.
