Tomorrow, Saturday, 13 May 2023, the Democratic Alliance’s (DA) Constituency Head for Kempvale, Bronwynn Engelbrecht MPL and the DA Ward 16 Councillor in Kempton Park, Cllr Jaco Terblanche, will lead a picket outside the Kempton Park police station.

There is a serious challenge of drugs, human trafficking, and cable theft in Kempton Park, yet there are no specialised units at the police station to deal with these issues. There is also a severe shortage of patrol vehicles for crime prevention and to ensure police visibility.

The DA will hand over a memorandum to the Kempton Park police station demanding the establishment of a specialised unit to tackle serious crimes. The specialised police units have specialist knowledge and training to investigate crimes. They investigate and take steps to prevent certain crimes.

Members of the media are invited, and there will be an opportunity for interviews and photographs.

The details of the picket are as follows:

Date: 13 May 2023

Location: Kempton Park SAPS, 17 Monument Road Kempton Park 1619.

Time: 10:00-11:00
