On Monday, 30 January 2023, the Democratic Alliance (DA) Gauteng Shadow MEC for Education, Khume Ramulifho MPL, will conduct an oversight inspection at Simunye Secondary School in Bekkersdal, Westonaria to assess interventions needed to improve the matric pass rate.

Simunye Secondary School is the worst-performing school in the province and has obtained a 48% pass rate for the 2022 matric results.
