The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Gauteng is elated by its win in the Mogale City, Ward 22, by-election.

The DA retained its support from the 2021 Local Government Elections by winning 74,5% of the votes today.

This result once again proves communities’ faith in DA ward councillors. The DA’s Devin Nieuwenhuyzen will take up the position of Ward 22 councillor.

Nieuwenhuyzen is dedicated and passionate about the community he will be serving. He will also continue to drive visible improvement in service delivery in Ward 22.

The DA remains the only viable alternative to take over government from the ANC in Gauteng in 2024. This by-election result confirms that the DA is building significant momentum towards the 2024 elections.

The DA will continue to work hard in our communities and provide service delivery to the people of Mogale City, as we have done in Ward 22, and spread the hope of a better future without the ANC, under a DA government.

The DA is the only party strong enough to lead the charge of unseating the ANC and the by-election result in Ward 22, Mogale City, underscores this. It is an important marker for the National and Provincial Elections in 2024.

We sincerely thank the voters of ward 22 in Mogale City for putting their trust in the DA. We shall work hard to honour the result of tonight’s by-election.
