ANC attempting to tarnish Midvaal with its own corruption brush

The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Gauteng notes with interest the ANC’s statement that it will hold a press conference today on an alleged jobs-for-cash scandal in the Municipality.

This is particularly perplexing as Mayor Baloyi has already placed the high-ranking official, who is allegedly implicated, on special leave. An action which the Mayor took without hesitation or delay. The matter is also currently under internal investigation.

It is clear by the action taken by the Mayor of Midvaal, that the DA does not tolerate even a whiff of corruption.

We will also assist any law enforcement agency with any investigation into this matter because our priorities are service delivery, and the needs of our residents.

The DA is the only Party to call for a minimum jail sentence of 15-years for anyone found guilty of corruption.

We can only conclude that this is yet another cheap electioneering gimmick by the ANC. We strongly suggest that the ANC focuses on rooting out the rampant corruption in its own ranks, instead of chasing phantoms.

Where we govern, we ensure that we run a clean government that is free of corruption and nepotism.
